Get Creative This Fall: Art Workshops & Classes in Beacon, NY

Fall is a great time to start something new.

At That Creative Space in Beacon, NY, our Fall 2026 season is filled with art workshops, classes, and social making events for adults who want to make, learn, and spend time being creative. Whether you’re looking to build your skills, try an art form for the first time, or simply make something alongside other people, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

And you don’t need to consider yourself an artist to join us. Most of our art workshops and classes are beginner-friendly and designed to welcome adults with different levels of experience.

What kinds of art classes and workshops can you take in Beacon this fall?

There isn’t just one way to get creative at That Creative Space.

This fall, you can explore drawing and painting, textiles and fiber arts, printmaking, collage, natural materials, and more, or join one of our social making events.

If you’re interested in developing your skills over time, our multi-week art classes give you the chance to go deeper. This fall includes Portrait Drawing Foundations, a six-week class with Paul W. McCormack, and Drawing for the Petrified with Lori Stanford Ross, a four-week class designed especially for people who want to draw but may feel intimidated about getting started.

Prefer to spend a morning or afternoon trying something completely different? Our one-day art workshops make it easy to experiment without a big commitment.

Seasonal art workshops in Beacon

Fall also brings plenty of opportunities to work with materials and ideas connected to the changing season.

We kick things off on Sept. 5 with Flower Pounding, where Beacon artist Theresa Gooby will show participants how to transfer the natural colors and shapes of fresh flowers and leaves onto fabric.

Later in the season, you can upcycle your fall wardrobe with block printing, head outside to sketch Beacon’s architecture during Drawing Beacon, explore painting, weaving and fiber arts, and try workshops inspired by nature and the materials around us.

As we move toward the holidays, the schedule shifts again, with workshops centered around making things by hand for yourself—or for someone else.

Looking for a social art event in Beacon?

We’re introducing Meet & Make, a social crafting series designed to give people another way to spend time making together.

Each event starts with a project and a little guidance, but the emphasis is just as much on the experience: come by yourself or bring a friend, learn something, make something, and meet other people along the way.

Our first Meet & Make takes place Sept. 20 with an afternoon of upcycling vintage and found buttons into bracelets, keychains, zipper pulls, and other small keepsakes.

Celebrating one year of That Creative Space

This fall is particularly special for us because That Creative Space is celebrating its first anniversary in Beacon.

We’re celebrating Sept. 19–20 with our first That Creative Weekend, bringing together several of the ways people can be part of the studio.

The weekend includes the return of our popular Art of Shibori workshop, our first Meet & Make, and the opening of What We Carry, our first group exhibition featuring work by studio and teaching artists.

A free community reception on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 4–6 PM is open to everyone. Visitors can see the exhibition, meet participating artists, and take part in a participatory community art project.

What We Carry will remain on view at That Creative Space through Nov. 14.
