You can take art and creative workshops, attend social events and exhibitions, use studio space, or book the studio for a private event, party, workshop, rehearsal, pop-up, or gathering.

Our programming goes beyond traditional art classes and can include things like collage, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, creative wellness experiences, social crafting, and seasonal projects. We’re always looking for new ways for people to make, learn, connect, and try something different.

We’re currently not a retail storefront with set daily hours. The studio is open for scheduled classes, workshops, events, exhibitions, private parties, and during Open Studio hours, with times posted on our website when available.

All workshops and classes require advance registration, but exhibitions, holiday markets, and other free community events are drop-in and open to the public.

That Creative Space is designed to give adults the space, time, and opportunity to make creativity a regular part of life.

That might mean discovering a new hobby, reconnecting with something you once loved, developing your artistic practice, meeting someone new, or simply finding a fun activity to do with a friend or for a special occasion.

We believe creativity isn’t reserved for artists. There are lots of ways to take part, and you don’t have to come in with any particular goal other than being open to trying something new.

A friendly greeting, a welcoming environment, and plenty of guidance. Many people come to That Creative Space in Beacon for a workshop or class with little or no prior experience, so first-timers are always welcome.

You don’t need to know anyone, be “good at art,” or know exactly what you’re doing. Just show up curious and ready to try something new.

Yes, and! We believe there’s an art form for everyone, so our programming includes drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, fiber arts, photography, social events, exhibitions, and more.

We also rent the studio to other local creatives who love to teach and share what they do, from improv and storytelling to charcuterie board design. You’ll often find these creative partners listed on our website, along with links to their registration information.

Most workshops and events range from $25 to $350, with the higher end typically being multi-week classes.

Pricing depends on the length of the program, materials, teaching artist fees, and studio costs. We work hard to balance accessibility with what it takes to fairly pay artists and keep the studio running.

We also offer a pay-what-you-can option by request, and this year we’ll begin fundraising to help make the studio more accessible over time.

No. Almost all of our workshops and classes are designed for all levels, especially first-timers.

We may occasionally offer a multi-week class that requires some previous experience, but we’ll always include that in the class description. If you’re ever unsure whether something is right for you, just contact the studio.

We’re currently focused primarily on adults, with most workshops open to ages 15+, along with special holiday workshops that the whole family can attend.

If we see more demand for kids’ or teens’ art and craft programming in Beacon, we’d be happy to add more. If you’re a homeschool parent with a group of kids interested in creating together, reach out and we’d be happy to explore putting together a special program for you.

No. You don’t have to be a member to take a class, attend a workshop, or come to an event.

Membership is for people who want a more regular connection to the studio, whether that means Open Studio access, dedicated studio space, or simply supporting the studio as part of the community. You can read more about Membership here and Contact Us with questions.

We list open calls for teaching artists on our website. Right now, That Creative Space is still a one-woman show, and we can’t wait until we grow enough to hire more help!

In the meantime, we also welcome volunteers who want to share their skills and experience, whether that’s marketing, grant writing, fundraising, content creation, or simply advice from someone who’s been in our shoes.

Yes. You can rent That Creative Space for your own workshop, party, rehearsal, pop-up, exhibition, meeting, or other small gathering.

Our space can accommodate a lot, but we’re not currently outfitted for ceramics, metalworking, woodworking, cooking, or activities that require specialized ventilation, heavy equipment, or kitchen facilities.
