Teaching Artist (Part-Time, Contract)

That Creative Space is a studio in Beacon, NY offering hands-on workshops, classes, and events for adults and intergenerational groups looking to explore creativity in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
We are expanding our teaching roster for Fall 2026 and are looking for teaching artists who can lead multiple types of workshops rooted in process, material exploration, and creative discovery.
Areas of Interest
We’re not just looking for traditional art instructors.
We’re especially interested in artists working in:
Fine arts (drawing, painting, mixed media)
Heritage crafts (weaving, punch needle, rug hooking, natural dye)
Experimental / process-based practices (cyanotype, printmaking, alternative photography)
Nature-based or material-focused practices
Creative wellness or reflective art practices
Art for community engagement or social impact
Functional design or object-based workshops (e.g., lighting, small home goods, sculptural objects
If you work in a different medium or craft, we are open to hearing your pitch of what you’d like to teach. As long as it can be taught in our studio. The studio does not currently have woodshop or metalworking facilities, or space for large-scale or industrial processes.
The Ideal Candidate
Can teach 2–4 different workshops or class formats
Has prior teaching, facilitation, or workshop experience, and is comfortable leading groups independently
Has experience working with adults and/or intergenerational groups across skill levels — including beginners, non-artists, and more experienced students
Is excited to develop and lead their own workshop concepts and class experiences, rather than teaching from a set curriculum
Is comfortable adapting instruction to support a range of skill levels within the same class
Creates a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment
Is reliable, organized, and comfortable managing class setup and flow
Is aligned with a community-centered, accessible approach to creativity
We’re especially interested in teaching artists who are excited to contribute ideas and grow with the studio over time.
Teaching experience is preferred but not required if you have strong facilitation experience.
Compensation
This is a part-time, independent contractor (1099) role.
Compensation is a tiered hourly rate based on enrollment, typically ranging from $40–$55/hour.
Location
All workshops take place in-person at our studio in Beacon, NY. Candidates should be local to the Hudson Valley or able to travel reliably.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time role. Most workshops and classes take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, as well as Saturdays and Sundays, with occasional daytime offerings.
We’re looking for teaching artists who have consistent availability during these times.
Timing & Commitment
This role is for the Fall 2026 season (September–December), with the potential to continue into the spring and summer based on mutual fit and programming needs.
We’re especially interested in building ongoing relationships with teaching artists who are excited to grow with the studio over time.
Interview Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a conversation and may be asked to share a brief teaching demo as part of the process.

Marketing & Content Intern (Part-Time)
That Creative Space — Beacon, NY
That Creative Space is a studio in Beacon, NY offering hands-on workshops, classes, and events for adults and intergenerational groups exploring creativity in a welcoming, community-driven environment.
We’re looking for a Marketing & Content Intern to support our digital presence, with a strong focus on content creation, consistency, and helping promote workshops and studio programming.
This role goes beyond following trends — we’re interested in someone who is curious about how content connects to business goals, and who wants to help shape how a creative business grows and connects with its audience.
What You’ll Work On
Create and manage digital content (primarily social)
Capture photo and video content during workshops, classes, and studio events
Draft, schedule, and post weekly content to promote workshops, classes, and studio activity
Help ensure content is consistent, on brand, and aligned with the studio’s voice
Maintain and execute a content calendar, keeping posts organized and on schedule
Repurpose content across platforms and formats to maximize reach
Identify opportunities to highlight workshops, artists, and studio moments
Keep a running list of artists, makers, and creators who could be a good fit for future workshops or collaborations
Support light outreach or research for potential partnerships
Track basic performance metrics and flag what’s working (and what’s not)
Support light organization of marketing systems (content, email, workflows)
Test and evaluate additional platforms (such as TikTok) by repurposing existing content and assessing performance and fit
What We’re Looking For
Interest in marketing, creative businesses, or the arts
Interest in art, craft, or creative entrepreneurship, and an appreciation for hands-on creative work
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
A natural interest in storytelling, with the ability to capture and communicate creative experiences in a compelling way
Comfortable taking ownership of content creation and maintaining consistency across platforms
Curious about how content connects to business goals (not just trends)
Interested in how creative businesses can connect with new audiences and build awareness in thoughtful, authentic ways
Comfortable working within (or learning) digital marketing tools and systems (content planning tools, email platforms, basic analytics)
Comfortable using AI tools to support content creation, research, and workflow organization
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Strong communication skills
Students currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, or a related field — or have a strong interest in these areas
Skills & Experience
Comfortable creating content using tools like Canva or similar platforms
Comfortable managing & scheduling content across marketing channels
Experience with photo and video editing
Strong written communication skills for captions and light copywriting
Comfortable learning new tools and systems as needed
Schedule & Commitment
This internship typically requires 10–20 hours per week, depending on academic credit requirements, with a mix of remote work and on-site time in Beacon.
Location & Requirements
This role includes both remote work and on-site support.
Candidates must be able to travel to the studio in Beacon, NY independently, as part of the role includes capturing photo and video content during workshops and classes.
Compensation
This is an internship for academic credit.
There is potential for this role to grow into a paid, part-time position during the school year, based on performance and studio needs.
